Roald Dahl - Boy

DS1 age 6 was given a set of Roald Dahl books (v good value from The Book People) and has been really enjoying them. He has nearly finished Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and says he wants to read Boy next.

My memory of Boy is that it goes into a lot of detail about corporal punishment. I really don't like the idea of DS1 reading it or me reading it to him, but it's tricky now he has a copy.

What do you think? Any ideas?

DD2 read it at about that age, because she got given it at a party. I don't think she really enjoyed it though, there is a lot of corporal punishment-the main thing she learnt from that is how much nicer life is today Grin

I just read it as an adult and really enjoyed it. It has an amazing amount of history in. I don't think I would have enjoyed it as a child though. I passed it on to my parents along with going solo, they have thoroughly enjoyed them.
