Favourite books for a two year old

My nearly two year old loves books - any books really but current faves are Miffy (despite the terrible stories), anything with pics of animals particularly farmyard and baby animals, and Tabby McTat and Baby Brains. Just wondered what your two year olds favourites are so I can can get some for her for Christmas/birthday.

Any of the Julia donaldsons - you really can't go wrong. Also, 'some dogs do' and 'aliens in underpants' Oh, and 'the tiger who came for tea'

Barry the fish with fingers is a fave in our house, and she likes anything with princess stories in them

We have The Tiger Who Came for Tea - she likes that lots actually. But she's not a massive fan (for she read me) of The Gruffalo. I like Tiddler though - is that Donaldson?

Have you got Farmer Duck and Peace at Last? Both firm favourites in this house.

DS also loves Owl Babies and the "LittleBear" books by Martin Waddell (there are about 4 of them).

Have read a friend's copy of Owl Babies. Make me cry...

My 2 year old likes Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs very much. I read about them on here and then found a handful in an Oxfam bookshop and snapped them all up. I half wonder if that's the appeal - that they are linked and she recognises the characters. Maybe it's worth getting more of any series yours likes.

My 2 yr old Ds LOVES Monkey Puzzle. He 'reads' it to me. He listens to it over and over and never tires of it. He laughs out loud and loves to join in with "No, no, no!"

I haven't found a book that even comes close to becoming his new favourite.

Our 2 year old DD loves being read to and it's something I really enjoy. I'll mention some that are not already above:

Anything by Matthew Van Fleet. Moo and Dog are particular faves in the lurcher household.

DD has just discovered Meg and Mog - they are really enjoyable to read even for me, some of her books make me want to die of boredom but the Meg and Mog are really readable.

She also likes Wibbly Pig and obviously all the Julia Donaldson ones (especially Room on the Broom). Also Daddy's Lullaby is a favourite here. I have to confess I hid The Tiger who came to tea behind the sofa as I couldn't face it any more - I think Mog the Forgetful Cat and the other Mog books are the same author, she loves those too. And Kipper.

Also 'Shark in the Park' by Nick Sharratt is brill.

Stick Man!! My DD 2.7 loves this book. We got it out of the library and renewed it twice but eventually had to give it back. She was very upset when we went back and they didn't have it. Ordered it off Amazon and she nearly ripped it out the postman's hand when it arrived! It is funny. Also have the Gruffalo which is good.

DD also likes Postman Pat and Peppa books. Also 3 little pigs.

She tends to go off a lot of books fairly quickly so was surprised at the Stick Man obsession!

DS is nearly 2 and he loves Little Princess (or the 'pinster' as she's now known). Harry and Dinosaurs also popular. The Albie books are a firm favourite (I know them off by heart, but still don't mind reading them. The pictures are really good, loads of things to pick out to talk about) as are rhyming books like the Gruffalo and Dr Seuss.

Max at night - Ed Vere is an absolute favourite - Son loves shouting for the moon! (Bit of a boisterous one I have here!)

Anything with damn flaps - Usbourne do a good 'Peep Inside' range for younger children, (Zoo, Dinosaurs, Garden, Farm etc), Postman Bear, Rabbits Nap.

Peepo is lovely, as is Each Peach Pear Plum. My son's favourite at the minute is Richard Scarry's A Day at the Fire Station. We also love Shirley Hughes' Alfie stories.
