My local library has a rubbish selection of books for little ones but I can order in any so I need ideas. DD currently loves books with flaps.

Board books best in my experience

Guess how much I love you
Any picture 'word' or object books
Animal books
Giraffes don't dance
The very hungry caterpillar7

I can't think of the author but try 'calm down boris' there are other books in this series. They all have puppets in the middle and make the story fun! My DDs loved these at this age.

Dear Zoo was DS's favourite book and he didn't really like sitting still to read them! Any of the Rod Campbell ones are good and have flaps. Spot?
Both of my kids love a book called peepo.
The other books my book-hating son loved were a very brightly coloured first word book and little sets of 5 hard back books. He'll be getting some in his stocking this year as he now absolutely loves them!

Oh yes very hungry caterpillar is fab! As is the Gruffalo!

Ooh I almost forgot the pop up books like dinner time by jan pienkowski. Throw back to my childhood and both DC love them!

My DS loves Sam's Sandwich, Each Peach Pear Plum and Dear Zoo. The 'Thats Not My...' range of board books are good too.

My little girl loves any musical books.
At the moment she is in love with musical version of The Gruffalo and a cheap and cheerful £4 Hello Kitty book that has brilliant pictures for labelling- she can already name half of the things in it!
