can anyone help me.

Years ago my younger sister (she's 25 now) had some books with lots of little stories in them.

I have no idea what the books were called but I used to enjoy reading them to her as they seemed to have humourous twists on a couple of classics.

she is the sort of person who gets rid of toys and books willy nilly so doesn't have them at all.

I am dying to find them for DS.

I remember one story was about how the kings three children had to fill the castle in order to become the next king or queen. One of the children tried to fill the castle with fearthers, the other music and the last one light.

another story was how two very strong men were trying to prove each others strength.
One decided to visit the other. The none visitor was very scared. His wife told him to hide in the crib and gave him a rock to hold. The wife then started to defend her husbands strength. she explains that he can slam a log through the ground so she has a well at the top of the hill. Then she explains that he turns the house for her so she gets the best of the sun. Then she shows the man in the crib as though it is her son. He is holding the rock as the visitor looks in the man and he is so nervous that he crumbels the rock in his hands. The wife explains that even his son is so strong.

sorry I'm not very good at re-telling them.

I have no idea who the publisher was or who the illustrator was. The illustrations were very good.

I just want to find any of these books so that I can get them for DS.

Please please someone out there have you read these books? do you know which ones I mean?

The second one is the legend of Finn MacCool so maybe you could start on Amazon, under Irish Myths for children.

if I could find out who the illustrator was I know I would find it. I'm looking at books to see if the illustrations are similar Smile

The first one seems to be The King's Three Children, and it was published in a series called Scheherezade Children's Stories (or Sheherezade Presents) by Garnet in the mid-90s - does that tally?

There are some available on Abebooks, including The King's Three Children (here - I couldn't find it under Scheherezade, but it's published by Garnet so is probably the same. I can't find Finn MacCool in the same series, though.

here is a picture of the cover of The King's Three Children - does that look anything like it?
