Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good book for my 4 year old son that will help him understand about our new baby's arrival? Worried he's going to find it all a bit too much! He's being very clingy at the moment and not quite sure how he will adapt. :):):)

We had one called "There's a Room Inside My Mummy". By the same team that is Purple Ronnie. It was funny, at at the right level for our 4 year old at the time.

There's also one called "Mummy Laid an Egg", which we all found a bit disturbing at the time. Can't think why now though.

Something Special by Nicola Moon is beautiful.

Not sure if I can add the link properly though!

Second There's a House inside my Mummy. There's also a Timmy and Topsy one, and Hello Baby - I tried to find something that would either mirror our choices (lots of siblings, breast feeding, home birth) - or at alternatively didn't mention how or where the baby was delivered or fed!

My then 3yo DS loved Za Za's baby brother. He still requests it as a bedtime story 16 months later. It's by Lucy Cousins who also does the Maisy Mouse books.

'There's going to be a baby' by John Burningham and Helen Oxenbury (I think). Not really about life with the new baby, but lots to talk about and beautiful pictures. Shows mum growing throughout the pregnancy. DD has loved it.

We also have two lovely ones by 'Child's play' books. No words, so lots of talking. They're called 'Waiting for baby' and 'My new baby'.

My brother recently ordered there's a house inside my mummy, although since he lives in America he ordered it through UK amazon and we sent it, my SIL didn't want there's a house inside my mommy. Great book, enjoy x
