I wonder if anyone can recommnend a book suitable for my friends daughter who is almost 8 and has started to develop breasts and pubic hair. Alot of the books tend to be aimed at slightly older children.
Any advice would be grateful as my daughter only 4 and I've not yet encountered these issues.
Many thanks any advice would be great.

I used this for DDs 1 & 2 The Care 7 Keeping of You It's an American book, but available from Amazon in the UK, I bought it in Chicago 10 years ago for DD1 :) It's only about a girl's body (periods/hygiene/dental care/moods), not sex, so ideal for younger girls in particular where you want the emphasis to be on her and not relationships.

I have the same book recommended by housemum for my daughter. I think this book would be suitable for an 8 year old who is starting to notice changes to her body :)

I used Babette Cole's Hair in Funny Places the other day with 8 year old DD. She'd been asking lots of questions about what would happen to her and twin brother. Lots of questions about periods, but then at the end she said 'why are we looking at this, can't we just read a Roman Mystery?' So we went back to Caroline Lawrence's series..... since then she's asked a couple more questions. I've discovered school doesn't do puberty til year 6 (!!) but as she's already started growing pubic hair and sweating I wanted to get on and answer questions now.
