I just read my 4yo DS the Faraway Tree, Enchanted Wood and Folk of the Faraway Tree. He loved them. They were the first 'chapter' books he's read! So what next? Which other enid blurting would be suitable for a 4yo? Or roald Dahl? Or something else? Advice please!!

We read dahl's Charlie & choc factory with our 5 & 3 year old, they loved it and we're now on James & the giant peach. Some of dahl's feel too 'old' though - we did try the great glass elevator after chic factorybut it just went over their heads (boom boom Grin)

Ds has enjoyed the Little House books. There's also the Adventurous Four by Enid Blyton that he enjoyed.
Dd1 enjoyed Narnia at that age too.

All 4 year olds love Teddy Robinson. Fact.

Second the wishing chair. These are great. Also there's quite a lot books of short stories. Tales after tea, Tales after supper, six o'clock tales and so on. I'm a huge Blyton fan.

We've been enjoying The Adventures of the Little Wooden Horse.

My 5 year old (and me) really enjoyed Aunt Severe and the Dragons by Nick Garlick. The Twits by Roald Dahl is also fine for 4 year old - Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a bit too long for my dd.
