DS (3 1/2), DD (2) and I returned from the library with a beautifully illustrated copy of Goldilocks and the Three Bears this one to be precise. It has now been read approximately ten thousand times and I've belatedly realised that they are (or at least DS is) probably well into Fairy Tale age. So since we live miles upon miles from a decent bookstore I shall be perusing Amazon (& probably eBay) tonight for Little Red Riding Hood, The Emperor's New Clothes, Hansel and Gretal, and so forth.

Can any of you lovely MNers recommend some nice editions?

I'm not quite at that stage yet, but looks as though Emma CC collaborated on the Pied Piper of Hamelin with Michael Morpurgo, so that could be worth a try if you like her style.

Thanks Moonlight, it's so hard to choose picture books without actually seeing them!

Anything published by Barefoot books tends to be lovely.

There's a nice Helen Oxenbury Nursery story collection, I think out of print but available from abebooks & other 2nd hand places
