Has anyone read these books?

I'm working on a blog project of an A-Z of translated children's books and was just wondering if anyone on here had read either of: Guju Guji by Chih-Yaun Chen or Quadehar the Sorceror by Erik l'Homme.

Bit of a long shot I know, but would be amazing if so!

I have read Quadehar the Sorceror, about six years ago or so.
I didn't think much of it, as I recall.

Colyngbourne - that's great that you've read it. Do you remember what you didn't like about it?

My own comment in review was that it was one of the "worst children's fantasy books I've read ".

Reviews at the time on Amazon read "Erik L'Homme's book loses nothing in the translation from French to English"

and also "He is possibly the next Tolkien".

There is an over-the-top effusive review on Amazon from June 2003.

I'm afraid I can't recall much of what was bad, other than the whole premise, I imagine and the world-building and the plot and the characters....

What age-range is your blog project covering? Two more recent books in translation that I have read are "Brothers" by Ted van Lieshout, and "Centre of My World" by Andreas Steinhofel but these are definitely mid-teen reads. Also "Through a Glass, Darkly" by Jostein Gaarder (and other books of his); also obviously "The Little Prince" by Saint-Exupery; also Tove Jansson 'Moomintroll' books or books by Astrid Lindgren (The Six Bullerby Children, Pippi Longstocking).

Cornelia Funke's work is also translated but I've not read these thoroughly.

All ages. I'm doing an A-Z and wanted it for Q!
