Best book about sex for an 8 year old?

DS1 just walked into my room this morning and asked "what's S E X?" (he actually spelt it out!)

Now I've been telling him bits and pieces, such as how babies are made (sperm/egg) when he asked in the past. But used the term 'special hug'. So told him that sex is the actual name for that.

The he said to me oh i thought it was about this and pointed to his willy

Evidently it's being discussed in school - and as I'd prefer the proper version of what it's all about than the 8/9 year old version I asked if he'd prefer that I got a book or if I talked to him about it.

He's opted for the book then talk. So what book would you suggest?

i saw a walker one a few months ago which seem very detailed and quite good and I'm wondering about that

We have this which seemed to answer ds1's questions.

Same here, DD1 has the girls book of What's Happening To Me. Very useful, accessible and child friendly.

thanks for those suggestions I'll take a look at them

birdsof, that Where Babies Come From is the Walker book I saw, I thought it was very good, contained everything I'd want him to know eventually.

iI almost wish it come in seperate parts as I'm telling him as he asks. Previously he asked about how babies where made, so I told him, but did ask for more informationon the actual act of baby making. He's asked now but I don't really feel it'd be right to have him discover the existance of AIDS and other STDs just yet, especially as he'sbothered by death and illness at the moment!
