I'm looking for new books for my dd, she's just year 3 and a really keen reader. She particularly loves Roalh dahl, David Walliams and the Wimpy Kid diaries.

I've been browsing Amazon and seen a series of books by Helen Laycock, but I'm not sure what age they're aimed at, they only have kindle additions and there are no reviews, which often help.

Does anyone know if "Mr Charlie Chumps" would be suitable for an 8 year old fairly advanced reader

Actually I can't find this author on the waterstones website, so maybe she's quite new or not very good.

Hi TeaOneSugar,
This is Helen Laycock. I have just inadvertently found your post, so have joined Mumsnet to reply!
I'm thrilled that you have come across my books and are interested in them. They are written for primary aged school children, so would be suitable for children from the age of 7 - 12.
The book that you are looking for is called 'Mr Charlie Chumpkins'
www.amazon.co.uk/Mr-Charlie-Chumpkins-ebook/dp/B006RIUNU6/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_1
and I have recently written the sequel called 'The Further Mishaps of Charlie Chumpkins'.

These, as well as six other books are available on Amazon (one poetry, five mystery/adventure). If you use the link below, or just type my name into Amazon, it will take you to my author page and you will be able to have a look inside all the books and read a bit about me. All my books are only available in Kindle format at present. Here's the link, if you're interested:

I hope your daughter enjoys them. Let me know if I can be of any further help.
Helen

Hi Helen, I can't believe I missed you reply.

We're planning to get a kindle sometime soon, I'll make this one of our first downloads for dd.

Great! I've had a kindle since last Christmas and I LOVE it. It' s so light and easy to use. I've already decided that Father Christmas can drop a pair of kindles down the chimney for my children this year. What better than a portable library where every book can be downloaded so cheaply, if not free!

Anyway, I'm glad you eventually found my message. Happy reading!!
Helen
