Recommendations for books for 5 year old girl

Looking for some new books for my soon to be five year old daughter, but she seems to be at that in-between stage where most picture books are too simple but chapter style books are too long, any recommendations?

What about books where each 'chapter' is a stand alone story? My dd is older, but around that age she liked:

Teddy Robinson
Milly Molly Mandy
Anna Hibiscus
Clever Polly and the Stupid Wolf

And also about that age - picture books with more story -

Katie Morag
Winnie the Witch

U can get books that have over 50 - 100 short stories within them. Likes of bedtime stories or classic stories. Stories that are not too long not too short!

My daughter liked a lot of the same ones as Takver's. Also My Naughty Little Sister. And a fab booked called Three Little Witches, can't remember the author.

Hi, my daughter is the same age and she loves chapter books that have a story in itself per chapter. The ones at the moment we've tried and have got stuck into are good ol fashioned Enid Blyton - Naughty Amelia Jane - she loves them - all about a naughty dolly who keeps playing tricks in the nursery on all the other toys (made me wonder if Toy Story 3 didn't pinch some of her ideas!!!!)
And she also likes Naughties Girl In The School series.
I am going to try Mrs Pepper Pot and am sure she would the My Naughty sister series.
Usborne do a lovely bunch of story collections like "Stories for Girls", and Classic Stories, Adventure Stories etc which are abridged versions of other books. She has loved the ones for girls with all the classic fairytales in etc and the ones with abridged versions of Heidi, Black Beauty etc.

The usbourne young readers series are lovely. My dd learned to love reading with these books.
