Fiction book wanted for an 8 year old girl-she wants a book with a heroine who wears armour and goes on adventures!

It's a rather specific want and I'm not quite sure where the idea has come from, but does anyone know of a book that fits the bill!?

Also Garth Nix's Seventh Tower series. Has a boy and girl sharing the lead role (technically the boy is the protagonist but he'd be dead, stuffed and mounted on the wall if it wasn't for the girl). The girl is desperate to be a Shield Maiden when she is old enough and is very trainee warrior-esque.
