Can anyone remember a book from my childhood?

It's just the image I remember. Of a stuffed horse/donkey sitting down sort of floppy.

I can remember the image and am sure I loved the story but cannot remember it

Surely you mean adventures of the little wooden horse? It is one of my favourite books as a child.

And I can't read The Good Little Christmas Tree without blubbing Blush.

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 12/11/2011 23:14

could be a toy sort of...

Are you SURE it was a toy and not just a bright donkey? What evidence was there? Visible stitches? Patches? Wheels? Come on now....think! I get obsessed by these threads! Blush

MumblingAndBloodyRagDoll · 12/11/2011 23:15

No no IsItMeOr that horse is not flopping...it's wooden! And upright!

I went through vast amounts of books as a child thanks to my mum's love of reading. I can remember many of them and the stories - I can even remember the night Mr Meddle stuck his teeth together with glue and my mum laughing so hard she actually cried!

But with this particular book all I can remember is how I felt when I looked at it, which is probably why all I can remember is the image and the feel of the book.

Sorry for being no help whatsoever

Oh! You said he is jointed further up thread! Sorry...I am over keen!

bytheMoonlight · 12/11/2011 23:18

Yes I am sure there was visible stitches and a patch. It was a very cutesy donkey. Like the sort that couldn't bear it's own weight to stand properly hence the flopping.

And I'm sure he was like a greyish/blue colour.

The skin horse? What was the skin horse? In the velveteen rabbit? I think. Not that one?

Nobody ever remembers my favourite childhood book which was about a sheepdog puppy who was a bit rubbish and his mum told him not to worry because she loved him "just the way you are" :) NB it's not Just The Way You Are or Guess How Much I Love You. Or the one with the bears.

Ooh, it could be! Although one of the pages says it's 115 pages long and the one I remember was a picture book. Could be a mistake though!

bytheMoonlight · 13/11/2011 11:32

No that's not it either Makingchanges

Oh well, hopefully I'll find it in a charity shop or old bookshop one day >

Can I ask how old you are? It makes a difference with searches as to the books that were around then.

bytheMoonlight · 13/11/2011 13:33

I'm 30 Mumbling

Okay, to try and rule out Enid Blyton, you can find her full bibliography on Wikipedia, and try Abebooks to find them and hope there's a picture of the cover.

I wondered about Tales of the Toys as a possibility? Not floppy horse though.

Blatherrinserepeat · 13/11/2011 13:59

Was it "The boy who wanted the moon" Here? It came with a toy horse called Bobbin...

You mean that's actually it?! I'm irrationally excited here Grin! Obviously we all like a good puzzle (and a good book).

theyoungvisiter · 13/11/2011 19:26

But - but - it's not even got a horse on it! Let alone a floppy jointed one!! (Feels irrationally cheated, :o)

theyoungvisiter · 13/11/2011 19:28

Well ok it's got a horse. But it's a rocking horse! I demand a recount. Or something :o

bytheMoonlight · 13/11/2011 20:04

theyoungvistor it must have been a picture of a bobbin I remember! Sorry for all the misinformation .. somehow we got there in the end! Smile
