Multicultural Books For Junior School

Can anyone recommend any books for junior school age children in which the main character(s) are of black, Asian or Chinese origin? I know of the Lulu books by Hilary McKay, and books by Jamilla Gavin, Malorie Blackman and Anita Desai, but wonder if anyone has other suggestions? Thanks.

The 'Wasim' books by Chris Ashley are ideal.

The Anna Hibiscus and No. 1 Car Spotter books by Atinuke

Thanks. I'll take a look at these. I had forgotten Anna Hibiscus, which I love, but haven't heard of either the Wasim or No 1 Car Spotter books.

There's also Amazing Grace by Mary Hoffman, but that might be too young?

I thought that too about Amazing Grace. I love those books though!

Have you looked at Chandra. and Chains. First is an Asian girl and the second deals with African slavery as a topic.
