writing a childrens book

Hi there,
Not quite sure where would be best to post this,hope someone here can help.

For a few years I have been thinking about writing a childrens book,have some ideas in my head and its something I would really like to do.
I just dont know how to go about it,publishing it etc, what would the next step be after writing it?
Who would I go to?
Just for future reference

Have a look at the website of The Writers' Workshop - they are a literary consultancy but there is a lot of very good free advice on getting published.
They also have a free community called The Word Cloud, which is great.

And you may want to invest in The Children's Artists and Writers Yearbook which has all the advice and listings about agents and publishers.

Would agree with SecretSpi - the most up to date version of 'The Children's Writers and Artists Year Book' is a must-have. It will tell you all you need to know.
