Friends daughter recently assessed to have reading age of 6 but she is 8 and gets bored easily by books but also doesn't want to read anything too babyish.
Any suggestions please?

Try Barrington Stoke publishers. They specialise in books for dyslexic and reluctant readers and their books have an interest age higher than a child's reading age.

Hi bluetufty
Madame Hooch ,above, seems to know about these things.
My daughter, aged 11, but reading age 8, tried Barrington Stoke books just recently, and she LOVES them. I never thought I would she ever even LIKE books at all, because she got so frustrated, but these have been fab.
They have their own website www.barringtonstoke.co.uk/ but you can also get them in bookshops. I emailed via their site and got a chart showing their books, which I took into my daughters school and persuaded ( nagged!) them to get some, too. Huge success all round.
PS Just wait till you can't get her to go to sleep because she wants to read longer- you will be in tears!!!
