my son's only 4 so that probably wouldn't work out, but have you done any searching on-line for book swapping? i'm sure there's more people like you out there. also, if they're in good condition, try amazon or ebay or something! then maybe a library membership so you don't actually have to buy all the books...i go to the library with my son and if he really likes a book there, i'll consider buying it. otherwise, it's next to nothing to rent for a while (but again, he's 4)

Have you tried Readitswapit? I used to belong a while back, did a few good swaps, but I mostly read a relatively small selection of nonfiction - I suspect it might work better with kids books.

BTW do you not have a library nearby? With ours you can request children's books over the internet for free from any library in the county, there isn't much that dd wants to read that I can't find that way.

we do have a library and use it often but just like with the adult book swap he wants a book to keep and read at his lesiure.
he fancys the idea of reading a book someone else has really enjoyed.

its just he has so many books he has read but would like to update his collection for free
