Michael Morpurgo for 8 yo?

My dd has read some Michael Morpurgo books (Shadow, one about a grehound, one about a dancing bear, Butterfly Lion) and enjoyed them but some of them appear to have quite adult themes. Can anyone tell me which ones would NOT be suitable for an 8 yo and which are?

Likewise with Jacqueline Wilson. She's in the middle of Hetty Feater atm and really enjoying that.

Private Peaceful is a bit old for her at the moment.

Just asked DS1, as he liked JW novels when he was younger - he reckons Double Act would be ok for an 8yo, although some, such as Vicky Angel are for older readers. The Bed and Breakfast Star would be thought provoking as it deals with homelessness - I suppose it depends on what she's ready for, and what questions you're prepared to answer! Any excuse for a trip to Waterstones!
