Can anyone tell me if The Famous Five books need to be read in order? Is there one that is an introduction? I can't remember.

The first one is the one where the cousins meet and they go to Kirrin island. Is it called Five On A Secret Island or something?

each of them starts of with a bit of an explanation/scene setting AFAIR, so no, it doesn't matter. I htink they do mention things which happened "last hols" occasionally, but nothing which affects the "plots" at all.

Prob makes sense to read book one first as it shows how they get together but it's not important

Think it helps to read the first one as it establishes all the characters and their quirks. However, I have read them out of order with ds and so far there have been 5 kidnappings!

Thanks. I ordered a collection for my niece and just wanted to check.
