What are the children's books that you/your children have read that you whole heartedly love?

The Richard Scary books (Lowly Worm, Huckle Cat and all that..)
Goodnight Mr Tom by Michelle Margorian
The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren
The Big Big Book of Tashi

Agree with Goodnight Mr Tom, although that was a book I read first and then read to my DS!
Currently reading and really enjoying the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones
For younger children anything by Julia Doneldson is great and I never minded how many times they asked me to read it! The Smartest Giant in Town was my particular favourite.

Richard Scarry very popular in our house too.

Anything by Quentin Blake - dc love the drawings. I loved his book The Green Ship - it's really moving.

I love the Ahlbergs too - Peepo makes me wipe a tear from my eye everytime I read it.

The books I enjoy most that my 2.5 year old also enjoys are most of the Dr Seuss books (especially The Sleep Book, One Fish Two Fish, Cat In The Hat and Daisy Head Mayzie), Tiger Who Came To Tea, The Gruffalo, In The Night Kitchen, Where The Wild Things Are, Handa's Hen, My Two Grannies, So Much, the Nick Sharratt & Stephen Tucker fairytale books (eg Cinderella and The Three Little Pigs) and The Runaway Dinner. Loads more, but those are the books she most wants us to read to her.

I loved Goodnight Mr Tom, my DS is too young for it at the moment.

I have lots of the Ahlberg books for him, his all time favourite is The Baby Catalogue. I am going to buy the Funny Bones ones next.

do you think my 2.5 year old dd would like dogger, each peach pear plum or is she a bit old for it?
