Can anyone recomend a christmas story book for children aged 2-3. I would like one on the traditional nativity, one of the story of St Nicholas, and then one on general christmas day/presents etc.

I have seen on amazon The Christmas Book by Dick Bruna and spots firt christmas, does anyone own these, what are they like?

Thanks

I don't have those but we have Cat in the Manger and This is the Star. They are nice nativity ones. May be a bit lengthy for a two year old. I suppose it depends on attention span Smile

I also know a lot of people who rate Santa Needs a Wee very highly Grin

Lucy & Tom's Christmas - Shirley Hughes - is the very best Christmas book for under-fives ever.

I second Lucy and Tom's Christmas. My DSs are 8 and 9 and they have both checked that we will be reading it on Xmas Eve!

Don't mean to hijack but can anyone recommend a site I can order a christmas book where you add your childrens name into them?

Dd1 had them when she was younger and I would love to get dd2 one but can't find a uk site that does them Sad

Cyril the Squirrel is a Christmassy children's book with a difference - and it's brand new. It features a christmas tree which the squirrel buries his acorns under, but then he keeps losing them when the Christmas lights come down each year. It's Christmassy, but good to be read at other times of the year also, as it's about the cycle of the seasons. It's suitable to be read to young children from about 2 and features acorns to count for the younger ones, but then it's also for older children to read for themselves. My two year old loves it, as does my five year old - but then they have to because I wrote it!!!
If you're interested you can check it out at:

Hope this helps.

The Dick Bruna one is lovely. We get it out every year for DD who is now nearly 6.

Christmas book is lovely as does the Nativity- spots first Xmas (and dear Santa) are nice on presents etc (there is also maisys Christmas eve) but they are
More on picture book rather than story side.

Dd same age so watching with interest what gets suggested
