Help me remember which book "Tug" was in

My bookgroup are reading a book by Robert Swindells called Stone cold about a homeless teenager. It reminded me of a book I read at school (maybe aged 12/13) with a character called Tug in it. It may have been about a boy who was held hostage. I half thought it was by Robert Swindells too but am now not so sure.
