my friends DS starts in Jan and wanted to get him a book any recommendations?

Yes, Starting School is brilliant - we also enjoyed this Charlie and Lola title link.
'Topsy and Tim Start School' was also good.
If she can buy only one, the Ahlberg book was our favourite.

Agree with pixie. It is a lovely book and dd2 (nearly 12) still loves reading over it. Do get that one, even if you get another.
