DS is dyslexic so it needs to have nice illustrations and clear text.

Also is it better to have one book or a series of books on different subjects

I loved a classic one volume encyclopedia when I was that age, but they tend to be illustration light.

My favourite one came from Weetabix after I saved up coupons, it had loads of pics. That said, it was a very small encyclopedia.

This looks like a great set, and it says 8-10 here

They seem to have a few different options, if you do a search for encyclopedia.

DK books are normally great for illustrations and clear text as well. I had loads of those. I'm sure they must do one as well.

yep

Looks like they also have individual ones for space, animals, dinosaurs, nature etc. I'm a big fan of DK books.

DS was given this recently, and it was a BIG hit.
