My dd aged 11 has just read this and passed it onto me to read. Really good, a bit sad, prob more suited to girls than boys, despite the fact that the 'boy' in the title plays a lot of football. She also got his second book, 'Mr Stink' out of the library and I read it before her. Again very good, but also bit sad, prob more sad than the first one!

I'll look at them. Thanks for the recommendation.

OOh can I join in? DD aged 9 read Mr Stink, passed it on to DH and then to me. Its lovely. Completely agree with his story-telling style being a bit Roald Dahl-esque. Bought the boy in the dress last week, read it in 2 days, again enjoyable although I think Mr Stink just pips it. And David Walliams swam the channel; is there no end to this mans' talents?
