Books for 5 year old boy

Hello, I want to buy a couple of books for a little boy for his fifth birthday. I have bought Roald Dahl's "The Hungry Crocodile" & "The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me" (in one edition) and would like something to go with it. I presume he will still be being read to at this age - any ideas?

Thanks

My DS1 loves Professor Branestawm, though it is a touch old for him. My Naughty Little Sister and Milly Molly Mandy are good too, though a little girly (my DS doesn't mind but many boys would). Paddington also brill.

My ds (also 5) loves any books about dinosaurs, sharks or cars!

My ds is 5 and loves the Dinosaur Cove series which you can buy from either Red House or Book People at the moment. He also loves the Winnie the Witch books .. I think they have those as well. He likes the two you have already bought ... also we have borrowed all the Oliver Moon books from the library which he enjoyed. I am going to try him on the Magic Treehouse books as well that people have been recommending on here. What is he into? My ds devours books so if you tell me what sort of thing he likes I may be able to think of some more!

DS loves Tumtum & Nutmeg books here but his favourite was Enid Blyton's The Wishing Chair Collection!

I just got the enormous crocodile and the Giraffe the Pelly & Me from the library for DS he's just turned 5, and He loves them, I have read them over and over since Saturday. He also loves the faraway tree (End Blyton), not many pictures, but its quite easy to follow, and it was one of my favourites when i was growing up.

chiefcook I'm glad to hear that went down well. In the end I got "Aliens in Underpants Save the World" to go with it!

And yes, you're right, the croc is enormous, not hungry!

We are big fans of Room on the Broom in our house! It is all about a witch and her cat on an adventure. They meet all sorts of funny characters on the way and try to fit them all on the Broom.

Both my 3 yr old son and 5 yr old daughter love it! In fact we have just seen it live on stage - brilliant all round!
