4 year old DS blood results

My 4 year old son had blood tests done last week as he kept getting poorly with colds, viruses, pale.
Bloods came back slightly low haemoglobin and high b12. I got an appointment to see GP this Friday to discuss results, they couldn't do it any earlier. I'm worried sick now, when I googled it up it came up with leukemia.
Can any one in similar situation share their stories that hopefully did not turn to be leukemia?
He is not taking any supplements so I have no idea why he would have high b12 levels.

Thank you

Hi @Lovecats27
I hope it’s reassuring but my DS had bloods for this reason when he was 6 and was called in within a few hours for his Leukaemia diagnosis and immediate admission. If they’re leaving it a couple days they don’t suspect it.
I know it’s not exactly the response you’re after but from experience they would move extremely quickly if it’s something scary.

Thank you for your reply. Sorry about your little boy. How is he now if u don't mind me asking? We been to the GP and GP has asked haematology for advice as platelets were quite high too 643. Haematology advised to look further into his iron levels and test for celiac disease. But they didn't even mention the high B12. Don't know if it's good or bad.

How did your appointment go op?

DD1 had very low iron levels when she had a blood test as a toddler. At one point the GP did raise a concern that she might have leukaemia, but as it transpired, she was just severely anaemic owing to a combination of illnesses that had buggered up her immune system.

She had iron supplements for six months and was fine after.

She's now 22 and still has a tendency to get run down and anaemic.

GP wants to test for celiac disease/pernicious anemia so DS is having more bloods done tomorrow.
Good thing is nose bleeds seem to have stopped and his appetite returned to normal and is more energetic. But still pale. I just want to know once and for all what is the matter with him and pray there is nothing serious

Hi @Lovecats27 sorry I missed your reply! He is 17 months into 26 of treatment but doing fantastically well. Was in remission within 28 days and back to school on a reduced timetable within a few months. Generally he now is like a normal 7.5 year old and is only off school etc for appointments and normal illness. Thank you for asking about him. I hope you get to the bottom of your DCs issues soon

Just in case someone is in a similar position. His repeat bloods came back normal, doctor said because he had quite a nasty chest infection prior to having first set of bloods that would have made his blood readings be all over the place.
I'm so glad to say he is back to being a happy little boy, full of energy and eating loads.

Thank you all for your replies. X
