Disgusted that a post has been deleted

KimberleyClark · 09/09/2025 10:27

A post containing a survey asking non mothers about their work experiences, posted on the Mumsnetters Without Children forum, was deleted this morning. Not just moved to the surveys board, but deleted for breaking the talk guidelines. I’m at a loss as to how it was actually doing this. There’s nothing in the talk guidelines about surveys.

I imagine there’s more to this

TenderChicken · 09/09/2025 10:33

Isn't there a fee for posting surveys?

DontCallMeKidDontCallMeBaby · 09/09/2025 10:33

A survey I completed ages ago (on a different topic) was deleted. If memory serves it’s because you have to contact mumsnet via a specific email address if you wish to conduct a survey. So by posting without doing so, guidelines are automatically broken. I think (although happy to be corrected) that the info is on the actual survey board.

CaroleLandis · 09/09/2025 10:33

Could be a journalist who didn’t have permission.

There’s nothing in the talk guidelines about surveys.

There must be as I’ve seen many survey threads deleted.

SoScarletItWas · 09/09/2025 10:35

MN doesn’t allow posts that are advertising or research. Reasons to report a post are:

Reason for reporting
Spam / Advertising / Research
Not a genuine poster
Personal attack
Hate speech
Inappropriate edit
Other: please specify below

Someone has probably reported it in line with the above. Nothing to do with the topic per se.

SpiralSpiritSocks · 09/09/2025 10:36

Why “disgusted” why not irritated or annoyed?

What disgusting about it?

GenerateNewUsername · 09/09/2025 10:38

I mean, it literally is in the Talk Guidelines section of Mumsnet?

I suppose you’d be disgusted if you believed this was MN deleting content about non-mums’ experiences - but that’s not what’s happened.

BIWI · 09/09/2025 10:44

Yep. Broken Talk Guidelines.

If anyone wants to do any research on MN they have to pay a fee. No matter how ‘virtuous’ the research might be.

PollyBell · 09/09/2025 10:49

Disgusted? on what grounds?

Ok I seem to have got the wrong end of the stick here.

Yeah, don’t think there’s anything sinister about it @KimberleyClark, just the usual removal of a survey/research post :)

I often wonder about these posters

do they have knee jerk reactions and plough in on matters without much consideration in RL? Probably

I often wonder about the type of poster who has to go on putting the boot in even after posters have admitted they’re wrong.

You took the post in which I admitted I was wrong and replied

yes that is putting the boot in.

Dear me

Wondering how a poster fares in RL is now “putting the boot in”

I do 🤷‍♀️

Come off it. You are being utterly disingenuous now.

Don’t think that’s entirely fair, OP is an example of the very lesser-spotted poster who admitted she was wrong within a handful of replies.
