DH andI have booked Thursday and Friday away at a hotel in one of our favourite places. Anyone else?

Ooh, lovely. We will probably just go out for a meal.

Oh lovely! Is it a fancy hotel? Has it got a spa etc?

No spa, it’s one of those former coaching inn places you get in market towns where you get a great cooked breakfast with locally sourced ingredients brought to your table along with a pot of tea or coffee and a rack of toast!

I'll be working. Wonder if my cat will buy me something 😃

Aren't the majority of valentine's plans child-free? Surely that's the point.

JudgeBread · 09/02/2025 08:35

We'll be partaking in our usual tradition of parking our arses on the sofa, consuming an unholy amount of dim sum, getting squiffy on wine and picking the worst, cheesiest, silliest horror movie we can find to watch.

We go out for a meal on the Welsh version of valentine's day (St Dwynwen's Day) because it's not as extortionately expensive or busy as actual valentine's day 🙃

No idea - this is the Mumsnetters Without Children board; by 'child-free' we mean plans for people who have no children, not plans people with children are making which don't involve their DC.

@KimberleyClark I love that style of hotel. Hope it has a roaring log fire too!

Yes, thank you, I know what child-free means. I was just curious as to the difference.

Sounds amazing I'm jealous.
