There are few people whose opinions I care less about than Naomi Campbell.

Theunamedcat · 12/06/2024 15:50

Talk about check your privilege

CaptainOliviaBenson · 12/06/2024 16:00

So she bought 2 children after renting another woman's womb and thinks she suddenly has all the answers for young childfree women? Really? Hmm

Daleksatemyshed · 12/06/2024 16:58

And back in the real world, if you've left it until you're 50 to change your mind about having children then it's probably too late. It's just another person who thinks money buys them evrything

JenniferBooth · 12/06/2024 17:14

Im almost 51 and nope not changing my mind and dont regret it

Snap.

Also, quite apart from the surrogacy, my mum died when she was 76 and I was 49. It was far too soon.

If I’d been born when she was over 50 I’d have had her for even less time, so I think it’s very unfair on a child to do that - and I’m talking about older fathers there too.

SleepingStandingUp · 12/06/2024 17:26

So she enjoyed her youth childfree and doing all the things that enables a rich, single woman to do, and then at the point at which it's biologically too late, she decided to outsource the job to someone else, and now knows that every woman wants one eventually because all women are the same? My article was shorter.

fitzwilliamdarcy · 12/06/2024 17:27

I don't have time for anyone who suddenly does something and then goes around saying that because they loved it, everyone else must also secretly want to do it, or inevitably will end up wanting to do it.

It just shows how incredibly self-absorbed they are.

AlisonDonut · 12/06/2024 17:28

Genuinely, there would be no way I could bring up one child let alone 2, during my 50s.

Well, I haven't got loads of staff to do the actual hard work so there's that.

Soubriquet · 12/06/2024 17:28

God forbid women know what they want and don’t want.

Some women genuinely don’t want kids. That is their decision. They shouldn’t have to hear “oh you’ll change your mind”

musixa · 12/06/2024 17:53

Oh, sod off, Naomi.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 12/06/2024 17:59

"You will change your mind."

"You might change your mind. And you might not, And either is fine. BTW, ignore the bullshit spouted by wealthy women who rent the wombs of other women in order to become mothers."

FTFY, Naomi.

LoobyDoop2 · 12/06/2024 18:13

This is probably really good advice for wealthy celebrities in an industry where youth is almost everything, who might find it very difficult to work out what they really want in the midst of all the glitter. If that applies to you, you could probably do worse than consider Naomi’s advice seriously.

LoveSandbanks · 12/06/2024 18:33

I’ve got a few child free friends in their early 50’s. Without exception, they do not regret their decision. They are looking forward to a relatively early retirement having been able to save towards it without having the expenses children bring. Their careers have been unencumbered by maternity leave.

I love my children and don’t regret my decision to have them but I can also see the value in the alternative.

Correlation · 12/06/2024 19:05

She's telling all her friends to have babies at 50 using surrogates aka rent-a-womb? One step closer to Handmaid's Tale...

Deathraystare · 24/07/2024 09:39

Nope. At 64 not changing my mind. Everyday I am relieved and thankful that I am childess.
