Ooh, that's similar to what my sister and I have said for years! "It ends with us" or "We're the last of our line". Pretty sure I've mentioned not passing on my dud father's genes, too, at some point.

My friend tried the ‘genes’ comment and was talked at about adoption by a very annoyed woman who was adamant my friend would ‘get given loads of kids’.

Yes, unfortunately as any woman who can't have kids knows, all it does is switch the focus to adoption and fostering.
