Marlene Dietrich said "What is love compared to a ham sandwich?" ("Was ist die Liebe gegen ein Schinkenbrot?) Hope I've got the case ending right there, and possibly she added "when you're really hungry", and possibly a German Schinkenbrot is in a different league to a ham sandwich - I'm just guessing about these two possibilities. ANYWAY my point is - can anything compare to the welcome you get from your dog when you arrive home?

I saw a thing on the internet, so no idea how true it is, but it said that the feelings you get when you first fall in love are the feelings your dog gets when you get ho e every day, so your dog falls in love with you every day 🥰🥰🥰 I love that idea, I love when my dog goes nuts when he sees me every day, and when he then surgically attaches himself to me for the rest of the day (tying this while he's lying across me, obviously I'm not comfortable but he is so I can't move!)

The feelings I get early in a relationship with a new human partner, I get every day when I look at Dcat after over a decade. I consider plausible that dogs and their humans feel the same way.

Unfortunately my dog was brought up by a cat so would not lower himself to show his love 🤣

But the fact that he keeps going despite so many health issues, all of which alone could kill him, and yet he stomps on through his life loving each day...is enough for us 🥰. He's my hero.

My little boy cat comes flying down the garden meowing when I get home and demands to be picked up. It's literally the highlight of my day.

My two cats usually hurry to greet me when I get home from anywhere (I don't go out to work so am mostly at home) and spend a good deal of time demanding I come and lie down on the bed with them. When I am in bed they're standing or sitting on me and purring!

I don't know how I managed to miss this - my cats are the same, I end up trying to read or type lying in bed while one or the other is sitting on my shoulder or draped under my chin, cutting off both my view of the screen and my air! 😆 And the day after my one day out in the week, I am expected - no, required - to stay at home, on the bed, and keep them company.
