Need an au pair quickly - Berkshire based

My au pair has just told me she's leaving at the start of July (rather than the week before Christmas!).

The agency who placed her seem to have undergone a change of management and are not being proactive so I desperately need advice!

I need an au pair plus with good English who can drive. We're based near Bracknell if that helps!

I have always used just au pairs who have been very helpful and two years ago found me an AP with 3 weeks notice.
Do you have a contract? If so what is the notice period? I usually specify 1 months notice on either side.

Our au pair says she has a friend who would be keen to come but she probably cam't start until end of July/early August but she is a kindergarten teacher and drives regularly.

If you can't find someone quickly yourself then the agencies I'd try are..

London Au Pair & Nanny Agency Maggie is very knowledgeable and provides a very good service. She may only deal with London families (maybe Bracknell is ok). When we moved out of London we did start using other agencies.

1st Choice Au Pairs usually have lots of long term candidates and they travel to Europe themselves to meet candidates so should have a feel for who is available to come at short notice. Jay the owner is helpful and the candidate videos they offer always help to make a decision.

APNI/Au Pair & Nanny Agency in London Good professional agency - lots of experience and have always been very informative and helpful to us. If they can't help you they usually let you know up front so as not to waste your time.

I'm not an au-pair, but a nanny, and am based in Crowthorne. If you are unable to find a suitable replacement before July, perhaps I could help out in the meantime? Let me know if it may help!

abacus au pair agency. have lots of potential AP's on their books.

BerkshireMum · 23/06/2010 12:56

Thanks all.

I think I may have found someone via Au Pair World. Abacus have also been pretty helpful.

Lizcat - we had agreed a fixed period up to December but she has decided to go anyway.

Nanny1 - thanks so much - will contact you if it all falls through

Treeesa - I'm going to keep that list for next time!

Another vote for Abacus. We've been pleased with them.

Hello Crowthorne au pairs or mums, I need someone to sit with my elderly father for 2 hours 3 times per week to relieve his full time carer. This would preferably be between 12 - 2pm. This time slot would involve little or no personal care. If you - or you know someone who is kind, have plenty of common sense with good interpersonal skills please message me.

This is my first time I have been on Mumsnet, so if I'm am not posting properly, please excuse me!
