Temporary Childcare?

LittlePickleHead · 06/06/2010 16:22

Hi, I need to arrange short term/temporary childcare for two weeks at the end of August. I am based in SE London.

Any ideas of how to find childminders who wouldn't mind a temporary booking? Looked into a temporary nanny but the cost is too high.

All advice/suggestions gratefully received!

Might a nursery be possible?

LittlePickleHead · 06/06/2010 16:31

I have looked into local nurseries but the opening hours are a problem - they are only until 6 and I need care until 6.30. Saying that, not even sure if they would take ad hoc places but probably worth a call to see.

I am basically doing some temp work with the view to getting a permanent position, so have to factor in a London commute. It's still a while away but getting a bit stressed now, had a lot of difficulty getting a job and it's even harder with the childcare issue!

I 'specialise' - for want of a better word - in short and medium term care. For example, during school holidays, after-school period, from 3.20 - 7.00 pm.

I'm based in the North of England so cannot help you. However, I suggest you contact your local authority Families Information Service.

They will have a list of childminders, and the hours and type of care they can provide.

Hi New2CM - whereabouts in the North are you based?
