Mad or a good idea?

My nanny is finishing up soon and I am going to go part time at work for a couple of months.

Anyway as Nanny is pg I have a Polish lady who comes in to clean twice a week for me. She really is lovely and despite her poor english the kids really like her.

She will be going back to Poland soon as she is only here to put some money together to put her daughter through college.

I have this idea in my head that if she is so nice maybe her daughter is just as nice - I know she is here on holiday at the moment and was thinking of asking her to perhaps mind the kids for an hour and there to see what she is like - in the know that she will probably be looking for work next summer and if she was good with the kids that I would ask her to au-pair next summer.

Sensible or a mad idea?

sounds worth a try.

Sounds sensible to me.

I think it's a splendid idea! Wish we could all have a trial like this with no strings attached. Really, it sounds great. Good luck!

Trial period a good idea, but you need more than an hour, at least a day I would say?

mishmash · 09/08/2005 18:18

I came with one good idea for once. Agree Golden - I have an opportunity to get her in for a day. Not sure if Anna is in tomorrow but if she is I will ask. I have also met her son and he is a very gentle, friendly, well mannered boy too.

TBH SSD I am really excited about this girl - we had the most fabulous conversation this afternoon and she is such a genuine, caring, warm person - just like her mum and her brother and you can tell that it is all so genuine and sincere

Bardzo dobrze, Mishmash!

Well Polish girl came to visit yesterday and I am still bowled over by her. She is going home at weekend but is forwarding us a CV plus references from people whose children she has already looked after. She has been looking after some children here over the last number of weeks and I know both sets of parents so it will be easy to follow up but she is an absolute angel just like her mum.
