Thinking a bit in advance here, but when dd starts school next year, she'll be 4 and 2 weeks! I will only be working one school day a week, but wondering how to cover the time when she is initially only going in the morning, and for later when she's full time before and after school.
I was hoping to use a childminder, but know that numbers are limited to under fives and wondering if this means I'm going to have trouble placing her with someone. I've seen that there are variations you can get, would this apply to this kind of situation?

While she is part time at school, she will count in the uner 5's numbers, and you may have to pay for a space, but when she starts full time, a childminder can apply for a variation which reads......... hold on a minute just getting my certificate.... "when caring for 4 or 5 year old children who are in full time education may increase the number in the early years age group by the number of children in full time education providing the maximum number is not exceeded" (ie no more than 6 under 8) I have 2 children in this category and only charge before and after school, now they are no longer in my under 5 's category.

Thanks for clarifying that, Rosiegirl. Looks like at worst I'll have to juggle for a bit while she goes mornings only - I could easily do a couple of mornings instead of one whole day at first. Mil should be retired by then too, so that might help, just like to know where I might encounter any problems before they come up!
