Childminders, some advice please

Hiya

I still need to be clear about retainer fees and deposits.

I am a childminder who is taking on a little one around November this year. I already look after children from the same family, and other children too.

Pleae explain what you say to the parents concerning the retainer fees. I have never had to do this before. What type of pricing am I dealing with? I have families who may be interested if I want to fill a vacancy, therefore I want to cover myself just in case this does not go ahead.

But mine is:

I take a months money in advance as a deposit, then nothing until another parent wants that space. When that happens I offer the space to the first parent on a full pay basis & if they don't want it I return the deposit & take on the second parent.
