Giving up Childminding

Hi everyone,

I've decided to give up childminding and return to an office based job.

I have given notice to all my mindees parents but wondered if I am meant to notify everyone else (Ofsted/NCMA etc) or do I wait until they contact me for next inspection?

Thanks.

How I wish I could afford to go "out" to work

I would contact them now, no time like the present

Thanks Frazzlerock.

We will be worse off financially to start with but in my previous line of work you can't really take too long out if you want to go back and it's been 3yrs already!

Thanks,

Will give them a call.

Notify Ofsted that you have no children on roll. If you definately won't return to childminding then send in your registration certificate with a covering letter saying that you are resigning your registration.
Not sure what you have to do with HMRC. Suspect you will need to do your childminder accounts till the end of the financial year. Not sure about personal tax allowance situation, probably best to call the HMRC helpline and ask.

You can keep your ofsted registration live for 3 years without minding and you can babysit in hotels or register for agency work or even work as a nanny with extra nanny insurance, it may cover you if you find you're short of money if a job doesn't come along. Playgroups and nurseries often need bank staff to cover for sickness.
Just another idea.
