I look after a 1yr old a 19m old and 2 yr old, how do I plan a medium term because of their age,for 1 yr old and 2 year old, I know I have to plan by looking at their interests. as this is a little hard as they are mostly are only interested in cars, books, dollies and push along toys.even though i have a wider selection of toys.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks in advance.

can you not write your MTP retrospectively? That is what we tend to do in nursery.

We observe the chn for 10 mins twice a half term and then put things out that we think they would be interested in? It sounds like you have a wheels thing going on, so could you maybe provide activities that encourage the chn to experiment with wheels e.g. large cardboard tubes, sending cars down them or push along toys in paint? I know this sounds really nursery-ish but didn't want to leave you unanswered!

I link my planning to the childs interests and my observation 'next steps'.

If you would like me to email you a copy of my planning, let me know your email address.

there is no 'formal' planning for under 3's but thats not to say that you can't do a very broad, loose plan based on what you know about the child, their interests etc.

Planning is purely built upon the childs interests and take it from there
