Hi all,

I'm meeting with a parent tomorrow who wants 3 days one week and 4 the next. My instinct is that I need to charge her for 4 days each week because I have no chance of finding another mindee for the alternate 4th days, but is this fair?

I guess the alternative would be to charge half fees for the alternate 4th day, but can't really afford to lose the income...

So WWYD?

Charge for all 4 days & only if she quibbles offer the half pay option, explaining that she will be taking up a four day space as you will be unable to fill it due to thealternative week problem.

I would charge for 4 days, otherwise I wouldn't get paid for the 4th day every other week. (but I would also make it clear that if she wants to use that 4th day, she can use it whenever she likes)

I would charge all four but offer her the option of finding someone to fill the 4th day on alternate weeks, if she knows a friend etc.

Also say if you get such an enquiry you could reduce her rate then?

Thanks, all v sensible suggestions - which I'll happily follow.

She hasn't mentioned payment on the odd days yet, but having already put 1 mindee's parents off with talk of retainers a few months ago () I wanted to be sure that what I was suggesting wasn't unreasonable (to me or her!).
