How will you be getting a new one, you can't just ask for one... you will need to go through a Registered Body or Umbrella Body. The organisation that processes the check for you may add on additional fees.
If you are a nanny and can meet requirements of Ofsted registration, that may be something to consider as it includes an Enhanced CRB check.

Yes i know waht they are i have had two before! What i meant was i need a updated one and i have had a enhanced one before!

Who will you get it from?

nannynick · 24/03/2010 07:22

The CRB charge the Registered Body £36 to process an Enhanced CRB,
The cost you pay could be a lot higher depending on who is processing your application.
You can not get the check directly from the CRB.

A nanny agency will be sorting it for me!
The last one i had was done by Tinies Nanny agency. why?? I have heard they have gone higher in price now thats why i wanted to know, but if they are around £36 that is the same price i paid the last time. so i will have to look into it.

so as i paid £56 a few months back then the agancy i used pocketed the extra?

nannynick · 25/03/2010 18:45

Maybe, maybe not as the agency may have used an Umbrella Body, so the agency was chared by them and would have passed on that cost, plus possibly some extra.

Wow pineapple you seem a bit overwrought. I know CRB forms are stress inducing but there's no need to bite people's heads off when they ask a question designed to help you.

Royal nannies are charging £62 for what it's worth. For the extra £50ish I'd get the registration!

I think Tinies are a registered body though so they may be a bit cheaper plus some agencies will refund you the cost if they subsequently place you.

Eden go through civil & corporate and my last through them was £52. Just noticed the immigration info on their website is wrong. Tut tut.

It's worth shopping around but you're very unlikely to get it at 'cost'.

pineapple79 · 26/03/2010 00:17

I have found out how much they are.. £56 From other agencies but Tinies charge £45.Tinies told me the reason it is £56 is because of admin costs. I am not biting anyones heads off by the way.

I'm not a nanny etc, but I'm a Doula and just wanted to post and say isn't it unfair??? I understand they don't do them for self employed because they're for your employer and if you're your own employer you don't need it BUT some jobs should be exceptions!

pineapple79 · 26/03/2010 00:33

Yeah i know what you mean it is unfair :-( but Tinies are based in Sutton now which is the nearest to me and it would cost me quite a bit to get there so i thought in that case i may as well just get it from the Agency near by to me and just pay the £56. I dont drive you see.

New system in July - ISA kicks in. From what I can see, that system will be usable by Doula's.

I don't want to get into an argument but please re-read this post when nick asked you a perfectly civil and necessary question. Whilst I understand you may have misinterpreted his question, which was literally 'how will you be getting a new one?', there was no need to respond in that way, especially with the exclamation marks which make it come across as aggressive. Of course you know what they are if you've had one before and whether you had an enhanced one or not wasn't relevant to the question.

It's impossible to give an answer to the question without knowing who you're getting it through. My last 4 CRBs were all done through different people and costs were as follows:

gguk - free, NHS - free, Bank staff agency - £36 reimbursed and Eden - £52.

It's not glaringly obvious that a nanny agency will be sorting it for you either. You may have been asking about the cost of a CRB with the OFSTED registration (included in the price), for a voluntary activity (usually free) or through a private company such as civil & corporate. Who you get it from, as has been explained, affects the price so nick was only doing his best to help and I don't think you realise how rude you seemed.
