im thinking of asking our neighbours teenage daugher to babysit for a few hours (after dd is asleep, nothing for her to do really but be in the house)...but not sure what i should pay her? dont want to pay too much but i dont want to discourage her from helping out again

any ideas? also do you think its a good idea asking a teenager to babysit? i know i did as a teenager, but whats the general thought on this?

I would pay minimum £10 to a sitter but about £20 if i was back after midnight.

I think it might depend where you live. I pay my teenage babysitter approx £5 per hour. Even if it's sitting on my sofa watching tv whilst dd is asleep. Seems to be the going rate where I am.

Yes I'd say £5 an hour, that's what I did way back when and I can't imagine the going rate for a teenager has gone up much since.
