i have looked after a little girl from sept 09 she is 14mths old now. this is the parents only child together and dad has 2 children from another marriage aged 7 and 11

That is very inappropriate and i would consider he has crossed boundaries.

I would be quite cautious about having in my house. I would have the child ready to go so he (dad) doesn't have to come in, if questioned why (by dad)I would tell him its because he crossed the line with what he said.

i had a dad that used to creep me out with seemingly innocent remarks accompanied with 'looks'.

How horrible for you. Sounds like he was gauging how 'up for it' you would be. The way he put it to you means you have no solid grounds for complaint too. Clever & creepy - the worst combination IMO.

I know it sounds an odd thing to do but I would make a record of this conversation somewhere jsut in case.
I doubt his other half would be too impressed and you know it's always the other person that gets the shit flung at them and blamed, not the bloke.
