We are starting our Chinese New Year Stuff today, by painting dragon masks

When is it?

I get lost after Christmas

Umm - no cake? I'll start the bacon

HSMM · 03/02/2010 08:08

Don't talk about paint this early in the morning! Hoping for a good day today. The kids were great yesterday .

Shoshe · 03/02/2010 08:22

Chinese New Year is 14th Feb, so we are doing it this week as doing Valentine next week, although we will be having chinese food for dinner on the 14th.

If anyone is interested we are finger painting these masks then laminating them, cutting them out and putting them on lolly sticks.

I have downladed a Dragon Dance YouTube, which the children will watch, then we are all going bto do our Dragon Dance

Shoshe That sounds brilliant! What age mindees do you have that will be doing it?

I have had to cancel my mindees today as my DD had the most awful diarrhoea nappy yesterday, just lost £50 but never mind , got to get used to it I suppose.

Not to be obtuse, is CNY year of the dragon? And everyone don't forget Pancake Day is the 16th

Shoshe · 03/02/2010 13:25

No Crace it is Year of the Tiger, but we have done dragon masks to do the dragon dance with.

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM PANCAKES (ala Homer)

February is not a good month for my diet, Valantines, Pancakes and my birthday!

I need to do something, I actually have a little Chinese girl but was mentally blocking until next week. At least there is loads to do this week and next: Heart shaped biscuits, valentines, party, Chinese NY... just goes on and on.

I love the idea of Chinese food on Valentine's day, consider that idea stolen.

crace · 03/02/2010 14:09

Wait, Valentines is on Sunday?

Shoshe · 03/02/2010 15:56

You know I hadnt realised that, then will be on the Friday before, as not working the following week as all my children have booked the same week off!

Sooooo jealous! Well done, you definitely deserve it.

lollipopmother · 03/02/2010 20:46

That sounds like a great plan Shoshe, bet you don't know what's hit you when you're sitting around a quiet house!

I just emailed the first two instalments of my new mindees daily diary to his mum - I spelt his name wrong the whole way though x 100,000,000!!
