Childminders, advice needed please

Hi not sure whether to post here or not, basically I am back at work after having dd2 I only work one day a week and MIL been helping out when DH is away (he works offshore 4 weeks on and 4 off), there are more hours coming up and I want to increase to 2 days but MIL unwilling to help out so need to sort out childcare, I know I will have to pay a retainer for when dh is at home and we wont be using CM but the problem is my work wont give me set days so I can see how this is going to be a problem, do any of you lovely childminders have any advice or any experience of this with any of your clients?

can you get work to give you set days or at least 1 set day?

I did ask my CN this when returning from maty leave but think she is a bit clueless at times and she said no, cos if I got it everyone would want set days, I may phone personel tomorrow to see what they say but I dont hold out much hope.
