am i allowed to choose my friend to look after my baby or do i have to have registerd child minder. Concernedafter the two policewomen got in trouble for their iformal arrangement. please help!

Am i ok getting my friend to look after my baby wen i return back to work or does it have to b registered childminder? concerned since the two policewomen got in trouble. can anyone shed any light?

i think ofstead have been told to over look situations like this so you shouldnt get into trouble if your friend watches your child as long as no money changes hands

OFSTED were told to overlook the situation and the Daily Mail hailed it as a victory for their campaign.
What they failed to report was that OFSTED and politicians cannot put aside longstanding laws just because there's a tabloid outcry over them.
This particular law remains as it was before Ed Balls wrote to OFSTED, namely that your friend can look after your baby in your home, but must be registered to care for children unrelated to her in her own home.

As for the policewomen, I hear that one is now using a childminder, the other a nursery.

I will agree with Tanith, as far as I am aware legislation has not been changed.
So it is best if your friend comes to your home to provide care, rather than you take your baby to their home.
