I am doing 2 'one off' days for 2 girls (sisters) tomorrow. I won't be minding them again....do I need to draw up a contract or is it enough to just have all details and permission slips, medical background etc....contracts are so expensive...do I need to waste 2 for the sake of 2 days?! x

I wouldn't bother as long as you have an understanding with the parents, and you are also sure that you will be paid.
Make sure you know about allergies and any potential medical problems just to be sure and for peace of mind.

I just get some kind of signature on a slip of paper saying they've given you permission to look after their children, maybe add something about having them in your car if necessary... just to cover yourself. And make sure you have all contact details.

OH MY GOD!!! I just called her to see if she wanted me to give them lunch and she said...'oh i dont need you now' the cheek of some people I wouldnt mind so much but I didnt want to do it anyway but she begged me and agreed to pay me before she went to work. Ive done a load of planning and bought baking stuff to keep them occupied all day because I know they are a bit hyper. I am having no luck with childminding at the moment!!!

i would be FUMING!!!!

poor you

some of us get taken for granted more than we realise. i hope that even if she does come back to you at another time, you don't need to agree to her request!

good luck!! really hope things pick up for you in the NY.

I am fuming because obviously I have no back up to actually ask for any money because there is no contract and I have spent money preparing for it (wasted time worrying about it too) Im sick of all these tossers taking advantage, I will NEVER agree to do anything for anyone again because they make me feel bad for it. i am going to become hard faced business woman clanky panky.
Like I said, Im sort of glad because I wasnt really looking forward to it and wasnt bothered about the money but its the hassle thats involved and the cheek of people!

totally understand your anger, how bloody rude and how dare they treat you like that. Hope they never have to run their own business.

Hope business picks up for you in the new year anyway.
