CRB checks

My childminder has a 16 year old daughter who regularly has her boyfriend at the house where my child minder looks after my child, she also has a new boyfriend herself. How do I know if they are CRB checked and do they need to be?

Regular visitors should be checked. What is considered to be regular is another matter but if you are often seeing them around the home then ask your childminder if they have been CRB checked. If your childminder can't produce such checks, then request that they are not around during minding hours. If it continues to be a problem and the childminder is not doing all they can to get the checks done (your childminder may have got them to complete EY2 forms and is awaiting that being processed), then contact the regulator to check that they are aware and have got the paperwork in progress.

i thought it was only people who lived in the house who had to be checked not visitors.
surely the 16 yr boyfriend wouldnt want to be sitting around with the kids and surely spends his time upstairs in the daughter room.

I had to have my two ds teens CRB checked when I started minding, and thats quite right imo.
Any friends who visit usually go upstairs as soon as they can, I only mind downstairs, so thats not an issue.

surely thats the case with your cm, I suspect deeper issues of trust here though???

If the childminders boyfriend is often in the house with the children then he should be checked, but if he happens to call in on his way home when you happen to be picking up then not.
Does he work during the day? and is the teen boyfriend at school?
No harm in asking if they have crb checks, but I would want to know how often they are in contact before saying too much.
