Hello,
We need to register our nanny with a nanny agency in London that does payroll. Does anyone know of a good reputable firm worth using? Thanks!

erm... do you want a nanny agency or a payroll agency?

BusyBeeKim · 16/11/2009 15:47

I think that you may need a payroll agency like Way2Paye, Nannytax etc.

nannynick · 16/11/2009 15:55

There are many payroll companies who can assist you with doing the weekly/monthly payroll. You don't need to use a Nanny Agency to use a payroll company.

Could you explain what it is you are trying to achieve? Are you just wanting someone to help you do the payroll (such as producing the payslips and telling you how much each quarter you need to send to HMRC)? Or are you needing something else?

We use nannypaye but I'm considering changing if I find a cheaper one. So would be much obliged of people could come on and recommend cheaper ones.

My boss seems very happy with PAYEforNannies who are a little cheaper than NannyPAYE at the look of it.
Not sure if what they provide will differ a little, though the core things of course will be the same. Think the e-mail updates thing that NannyPAYE do isn't done... though I do wonder how long it will take other companies to copy that.

AtheneNoctua · 16/11/2009 19:19

What e-mail updates thing?

NewMuminLondon · 16/11/2009 21:31

We already have the nanny. We're looking for an agency to pay her and to help us deal with tax and insurance payments. Thanks for everyone's input.

AtheneN - their website mentions about sending you payslips and other documents via e-mail as well as in printed paper format - see this page where they claim some things are unique to them (hmm, doubt that they are all unique, surely other providers will copy those ideas soon enough).

NewMuminLondon - still don't really understand what you are after... I think you are just wanting a payroll company... so there are quite a few of those around, which charge varying amounts.

www.nannytax.co.uk was I think the first, they seem to charge the most.
www.nannypaye.co.uk
www.payefornannies.co.uk
www.nannypayroll.co.uk
www.taxingnannies.co.uk
www.taxnanny.co.uk
www.nannywageltd.co.uk
www.way2paye.co.uk
are some of the many others (sorry to any I've missed, but you weren't on the first 20 results on Google).

You can do the payroll yourself, HMRC provide a CD ROM in your Employers Pack which makes life a little easier. But using a payroll company does make it a lot easier, though helps to know how it's done should you ever need to take over.

Well, there's never been any such e-mail in my inbox. Maybe they posted it on the website before they rolled it out.

NewMuminLondon · 17/11/2009 15:53

Thanks for all of the advice. I checked out the web sites listed and called some of them. In the end, I chose www.payefornannies.co.uk/
The owner answered the phone. He's very nice, offers a straight-forward service (it seems) and at a reasonable price. I especially liked the fact that instead of a machine telling me how valuable my business is but making me wait, a real person answered the phone right away and explained how it all works. Good enough for me. Thanks again for the names.

Shows how important personal service is... quite agree... phone a selection and see which ones answer the phone with a human!

I should point out that I got my first e-mail from nanny paye yesterday. So it seems they did not tell porkie but rather posted their webpage before they sent the e-mails. Just thought I should give them credit after I said they didn't do it.
